Is Channel 38 the new "19" these days? One change I've noticed in the CB world, unlike in the mid-80's, is the three-digit Call Signs being used. I was issued a CB License back in the 80's that had a FOUR (numerical) digit tail. How is a three digit numerical Call Sign chosen? Also, what's a NJ person doing in Maine???

Also, this radio, the infamous Cobra 200 GTL DX is a 100 watt output radio. Not a nice or quality radio, but cheap and effective. A far cry from your standard legal CB radio which outputs 4/12 watts depending on mode. I had a 200 that I tried to use on 10 meters, but the damn thing was too quirky. Gave it to a CBer.
27/28 Mhz will be useless for worldwide comms during the solar minimum.

I notice that CB's use calls like "324." How do those work? How do you get your call?

How do you get your handle? What decides it? Random letters and numbers? Or is it a Ham thing.
