there is so much wrong with this video, its unbelievable...
I was told at one time those alum flexi mic cords are a issue as well when its ta do with grounding of sorts..
If you want the best possible results as far as performance you should mount a puck mount on the roof to begin with. Everyone is correct when they say not to ground to the firewall but to the ground post on the battery. Gunny pucks are nice and sleek looking and perform excellent. I personally run a Breedlove(not sure if i spelled it right) puck mount with a swivel that is tensioned to your likeness incase you hit something it will fall back instead of break and also has a quick release assembly to easily take on and off if needed. Also, if you truly want the best SWR you need a meter capable of telling you what you need to do to properly tune the antenna or ground the antenna(if impedance is off). I personally recommend a MFJ 259c for any SWR calibration. A rig expert is even better than the MFJ but will cost you between $800 and $1000 to buy. A MFJ 259c is around $300 including shipping but you will have to learn to use it on your own. It sounds like whatever cb shop you have been to doesn't know much of what they are talking about to be quite honest. If you want to take in information then be sure it is correct info, otherwise you are hurting ppls system if they take most any of the advice given in the video. Breaka breaka
This is the scariest dumbfuckery I've ever seen in my life. Thank goodness you don't work in a grenade factory.
What is it with some radio guys at shops being cocky when an amateur comes in for advice. A lot of them don't want to be bothered unless your gray haired and been in the hobby for over 2 decades. Maybe partially a reason not too many young people are into radios.
LOL, 10 Meter Radio is an Amateur band in Germany, you need an Lizenz. 11 Meter is free CB
That red power wire looks like a double ot or triple ot (00) (000) gage, and unless your pulling 140 amps you dont need that big, the amp may be pulling 20 amps and radio maybe 3 amps.
This is by far NOT the right way to hook up a radio. NEVER mount an antenna to a toolbox, the positive should not go to the block by the manifold it should go to the battery. That is not a lineeeerr, Its a Linear, and actually its not a linear amplifier. Its a class AB box which is not linear. The reflect you are getting from the toolbox mount right behind the cab is killing the performance. That truck stop coil antenna is junk, you need to get a real antenna. Anyway, not busting your balls, just letting anyone that watches know that this is NOT the "right" way to hook up a system.
Apart from the door wiring,i would go thru the bulk head of engine with cone cutters ,then put a rubber grommet to prevent wire chaffing.Apart from that you got it spot on installation.I would also add a high grade low-pass filter on the amp unit, just to stop any nasty 2nd,3rd harmonics interfering with land mobile radio, emergency services etc.
With low pass filter at output side of RF amp, look for a filter with about -60dB-80dB attenuation @50mhz..On all my commercial mobile\fixed base lowband installations I have done I have added this esp if running 100-150 watts on Low band VHF 29.7 to 50mhz,Land Mobile Radio band which is pretty much close to 27mhz cb band.I know some people may see this as illegal, but i prefer to give good technical advice to avoid problems and keep the hassle factor down with commercial users, preventive rather than make non productive comments.
Ive been involved in commercial 2 way radio for a very long time including hobby radio, and yes you are correct there's a lot of really shabby installations Ive seen and yourself :).Good video you have certainly learnt a lot from this hobby, all the best.
Lol, not correct at all
everyone forgets on CB you can run SSB 12 watts legal and it will reach out walk and talk come on!! 15 to 20 miles is not an issue on ssb...
Where did you get your fuse box splitters ???? Thanks.
Grounding to the battery provides the cleanest ground new guy. You won't get any noise grounding straight to the battery and it's the best ground. Grounding to the body is stupid. Very stupid. The body is sitting on rubber bushings and might have a couple straps and then the bolts that hold the cab on....

If you refuse to learn electronics at least ground to the solid steel frame...

But it all makes sense when you realize your a Chevy owner..

Fuckin rookies.
I thought this was a video showing the correct way???

Your ground is horrible and your power and ground should go straight to the battery especially with a kicker.
If I install a km italy 203 to my cobra 29 will it bleed into my stereo since i have another amp for a sub woofer and another for my door speakers?
I am having problems with my cobra 18wxst2 when i key up the mic it kills my engine oil gauage  any ideas i have a 2005 chevy silverado
If I install a km italy 203 p 100 watt linear to my cobra 29 lx in my f250 with one amp for my sub and another for my door speakers will it interfere at all?
I second the motion about the fuse being near the battery, but put the hot wire to the starter solenoid. The rado fuse should be 2 Amp
Going into the radio.
K4OF.
The trouble is that some cars have the battery in the back, so wiring via the fuse box is the only way on some vehicles. Cars like the Chevrolet Cobalt or Chevrolet Caprice PPV can only be wired up via the fuse box becuase of the battery being in the back.
Joe Smith you should call the "How I have my radio installed" you don't show it being installed.
