all I need to know is where can i get a good amplifier and if i can connect it to any cb,i use a simple 40 channels with Weather band, send me any info about the microphone and antenna, all i need is at list a few more miles range, thank for the video bro.
Well I doubt if I would have posted this video. The fcc wouldn't mind watching it either. The "amp" used made this into an illegal radio set up. Once you key up and drive the power up over the permitted limit you are chancing a local fcc nazi to bust you. 5 watts on am and I believe 12 watts side-band. The amp looked like an 80 watt amp. Running 20 to 30 may not get flagged, but driving the amp will get someone to notice. Chances are you'll never get caught. But if you do I think it is up to a 10,000 dollar fine and your radio equipment. Play stupid and be respectful they'll probably just take the equipment. Just know that his set up could get you in trouble.

Nice well for me it was between the galaxy 99 or the rci 2950 so I went with 2950 and Wilson 5000 but I got tired of being in the car just to talk and made it a base so now still same radio a99 on peak of roof with 10 foot pole and antenna on that with a messenger 2v 26mhz-30mhz audio adjusted and it works great ....
Lovely setup that 102 whip must be working Great
Thanks for the good video. Is the location of your antenna working good? They say near the center of your roof is best. I am getting ready install a whip. Since the CB already has built in mic gain why have a power mic? How many feet of coax did you need. I have a similar small truck. I dont want any extra. plust the LMR coax is very expensive.
Sweet set-up.
How many channels again?
How do you mod the radio to get more than 40 channels?
custom built amps comp tunes and more google 440 cb shop for all you're cb needs
A CB uses high frequency, but for local communications (100 miles or less) you're better off using VHF or UHF.  Your signal will get through better with less power.  I routinely talk to repeaters 20 miles away in my car using just 5 or 10 watts.   My point is that, with an amateur radio license, you can do everything you're TRYING to do with CB, except that you can do it better, easier, legally, and probably with less money as you would with a CB.  Why struggle to make something work ok when there are better options?   From a purely technical perspective this is a great video.  From a legal perspective, it's not but that horse has already been beaten.  If you're really into radio, look into becoming a ham.  When I was 16 I was into CB and it was fun. Now I'm an extra class amateur and I can do WAY more now (legally) then I ever could with CB.  One 35 question test (that a 6 year old recently passed) is all you need to get licensed.  It's worth doing.
Nice setup.
How do you get a ham license ?  where could I get a radio like the one you have?
If you want to talk longer distances on CB, I recommend that you buy a SSB CB radio. You get to use 12w instead of just 4, and SSB is a much more efficient method of signal transmission. The only downside is that they cost around $100 new. In this day and age, you are not likely going to get caught if you run a 40-50w amp on CB, unless you are near some place sensitive to radio waves, like airports, military bases, observatories, or places where people use over the air antennas to receive TV signals. However, I recommend that you observe all laws relate to radio transmissions, if you want to avoid a potentially hefty fine. Just my 2 cents.
Hi I was wondering how to hook up the amp.  Is it just the antenna wire goes into the amp then it has an out which you hook the antenna too?
not sure on how to contact you via email

Brad I'm interested in how you were able to modify the radio for the extra channels. I have a Galaxy 949 (same radio no Freq counter) I have an external one. I was able to modify one of my old ones. Very interesting video learned lot.

I have been a licensed ham for 5 years, and I started on CB back in the late 90s. The FCC for the most part, has washed its hands of trying to regulate CB. The only time they do anything is if a radio is constantly overdriving or causing harmful interference. The biggest thorn in the side for us hams is not so much the amps on 11 meters, but we are hearing CB traffic on 10 and 12 meters, because the 10/12 meter rigs are easily modified to operate on CB and put out 50 watts out the box. It is almost like they think it is extra bandwidth to play with, but if you don't have a ham license, and the FCC finds you, prepare for one hefty fine.
